Climate
Singapore is warm and humid all year round. The daily temperature averages around 28 degrees Celsius, dropping to around 24 degrees Celsius in the evenings. It is advisable to wear light and cool clothing during the day. A jacket is suitable for evenings and when in air conditioned venues. Showers are usually sudden and heavy, but also brief and refreshing, so it is advisable to carry an umbrella.

The standard voltage in Singapore is 220V/240V, 50 Hz. If you have equipment that runs on a higher voltage, you should not connect it to Singaporean power unless you have the correct transformer (voltage adaptor). Singapore uses the British BS1363 three-pronged square pin type socket.
Language
English is the official language of the meeting. The four official languages in Singapore’s constitution are English, Chinese, Malay and Tamil. However, in recognition of the status of the Malay people as the indigenous community in Singapore, the national language of the country is Bahasa Melayu, or the Malay Language.

The Tourist Refund Scheme (TRS)
To enjoy a refund on the seven per cent goods and services tax (GST) paid on your purchases, you need to make purchases of at least S$100.00 from participating outlets which display a “Tax Refund” logo or a Global Blue “Tax Free Shopping” logo. Request a refund voucher upon purchase, which you present with your purchases, receipts and passport at the Tax Refund Counter at the airport before you depart. The smokefree law in Singapore includes the common areas of all indoor public places and residential buildings, covered linkways and walkways, overhead pedestrian bridges, outdoor compounds of hospitals, public transportation and stadiums, playgrounds and exercise areas as well as within a five-meter radius of bus shelters and building areas.

The Singapore dollar (SGD) is the unit currency in Singapore. All major credit cards are widely accepted in Singapore and can be used to obtain cash advances at banks and automatic teller machines (ATMs). ATMs are are widely available at most shopping centres.
