Residents' Cup & Conference Prizes


Free Paper Awards: Three prizes are awarded to the best three presentation at the free paper session

Best Poster Award: One prize is awarded to the best poster presentation

SSHS Residents' Cup
This Award was instituted in 2013 and the trophy was sponsored by Synthes, Singapore. The purpose of this award is to improve the quantity 
and quality of scientific submissions at the Annual Scientific Meeting and to encourage a friendly inter-institutional competition.  The award 
consists of:
Rolling Trophy: This trophy will be kept at the office of the department that wins it for a period of one year. The year and name of the department that wins it will be sequentially inscribed on the trophy. 
Framed Certificate: A framed certificate will be awarded to the department that wins the trophy.
Criteria for Award
The award will be based on the cumulative score that includes points for submission, points for acceptance, and points for winning top three positions in oral and poster presentation

The criteria for scoring are as follows:
Points for submission: 1 point per submission 
Multiple submissions by the same person (as presenter/ first author) will not result in more points for submission. 
Hand Surgery Resident: Points awarded to the sponsoring institution of the resident and not to current unit or body of work
Medical officer; Plastic or Orthopedic Residents on rotation: Points awarded to sponsoring institution from which body of work was derived
Submissions by clinical fellows/ medical students/research staff/trainee therapists are not counted towards the award

Points for acceptance:  
Accepted oral presentation: 3 points 
Accepted poster presentation: 2 points 

Points for securing top three places 
Free paper 1st place: 9 points 
Free paper 2nd place: 6 points 
Free paper 3rd place: 3 points

Poster
1st place: 6 points 
2nd place: 4 points 
3rd place: 2 points 

Tie: In the event of a tie, the award will be based on the following criteria in sequence:
Greater number of submissions 
Greater number of acceptances 
Winner of 1st place for oral presentation
