President's Message
Singapore has a long history of excellence in Hand Surgery. It is the hub for Hand Surgery in South-East Asia and one of only three countries in the world to have a residency programme for Hand Surgery. We are one of the world's fastest growing and developing regions and believe that we will be able to make the 2028 IFSSH-IFSHT Congress an impactful and unforgettable experience for all participants.
Singapore is a choice venue for hosting international congress events due to its excellent connectivity to the world, infrastructure, easy transportation, as well as strong government and corporate support for these events.
We have chosen "Towards Sustainable Hand Surgery and Therapy'' as the theme for our meeting. As we try to push the frontiers of our specialty, it is more important now than ever to be sustainable in our approach. We also want to be inclusive and have planned to reach out to participants from lower income countries by offering a combination of discounted registration and travel fees, as well as scholarships, to support their participation in the Congress. We feel that this will help spur the growth of Hand Surgery in their respective countries. Courtesy registration and accommodation will also be provided for the IFSSH President, Secretary- General and Administrator and their spouse/significant other.
Hand Therapy in Singapore is also growing, and the recently established Singapore Association of Hand Therapists is affiliated with the IFSHT. Cohosting the IFSHT with the IFSSH Congress will further support the growth of Hand Therapy in Singapore and the region.
